So much to do...

Hi, everyone! I went for my patient seminar class today with Southern Surgical.  It was really informative.  I was able to get my nutritionist, psych., and pulmonary tests all scheduled for next week!  My cardiac evaluation is in April and I'm waiting to hear about the endoscopy and abdominal ultrasound (she said 4-6 weeks).  I already have my 5 year weight history turned in, too!  This seems to be moving pretty fast and it seems like so much to do!  Whew!  I guess just one step at a time... congratulations amanda!  i had my education class there 2 weeks ago, myself.  i have my endo. scheduled for next week, and waiting on the rest to be scheduled.   are you planning on going to the support group meetings??  i think the next one is next wednesday night.  i think i am going to try and go so that i can talk to more people face to face, and ask more questions.   dee

LOL...and this is only the begining!! Be prepared for speedbumps along the way, so that when things do get cancelled or don't go as smoothly as you'd hope, you will be prepared! I was told by my psychologist this is not a process to ru**** is a life altering decision and you have to be ready for whatever comes your way! SO the best thing to do is definately take it one day at a time and BE PATIENT...lol I've learned that for sure!! Best of luck to you. We look forward to your posts of your new journey! Hopefully everything goes smooth!

Amanda it sounds like your doing wonderful. Once you get an appointment or two under your belt you'll feel like a pro! Get ready for a fun but sometimes crazy ride!

It went a lot faster then you thought, huh? Don't worry they will schedule everything within weeks of each other. I meet my nutritionalist tomorrow, and my psych Thursday morning @ 7:30. Woohoo. I love Southern Surgical, they are awesome.

Hi Amanda -

I'm glad to hear that it all went so well. Jami has a very good point; there is a lot to do over the next few months and sometimes there will be a few 'speed bumps' in the road, but with a little patience all will come and you'll soon find yourself sitting on the loser's bench with us.

Please continue to let us know of your progress.

This is great news Amanda sounds like you are right on top of everything. Yes it can be a bumpy ride sometimes but keep your sight on the brass ring. Stay on top of it and do not give up it will happen for you too.                                    Annie

Thanks everyone!  I will definitely keep you guys posted.  Let's just keep our fingers crossed that everything goes smooth and I don't forget that patience you've all mentioned.   As far as the support group goes, I'm not sure when I'll make it to one, although I really want to go.  Plus I have to decide whether to go to the one in Greenville or in Rocky Mount.  Where does the one in Greenville meet? Congrats on the beginning of this process.  I started in October and finally had my surgery a week ago and everything went pretty smooth with my insurance carrier.   I learned it was better to get records and reports and fax them to the surgeon myself so I knew they had em. Good luck!    Pam
